UPDATE: Commodore fire officials confirmed on Sunday that one person was injured and flown by medical helicopter from the scene. One dog perished in the fire. No word yet on the cause of the fire, but fire marshals are investigating.
WHAT WE PREVIOUSLY REPORTED
Four fire departments were busy last night with a structure fire reported in Green Township.
Indiana County 911 reports that Commodore, Clymer, Cherry Tree and Hope fire departments were dispatched to a home on Starford Road for a fire. Citizens Ambulance and the RIG team were also dispatched at 8:50 PM. About 30 minutes later, Indiana Fire Association members were called to the Commodore Fire Station to standby for Commodore and Clymer Firefighters. Initial reports say that the fire was in a two-story dwelling at 3842 Starford Road.
There is no word yet if there were any injuries, but within 10 minutes of the initial report of the fire, Indiana County 911 called on Commodore Fire Department to set up a landing zone on Musser Street.
Four brush fires were also reported yesterday in Indiana County, bringing the county’s total for the year so far to 55. The first was on Adamson Road in Washington Township at 1:40 PM. Plumville fire department was dispatched for that call. The second brush fire was at 3:22 PM on Stutchell Road in Black Lick Township. Aultman, Black Lick, Blairsville and Coal Run firefighters were called out for that. Indiana Firefighters were dispatched at 4:16 PM for a brush fire on Fairview Avenue in White Township.
The fourth brush fire was reported on Barr Slope Road in Rayne Township at 5:03 PM. Clymer fire department was initially dispatched, but Marion Center and Commodore Fire Departments were called in to assist 10 minutes later. Marion Center fire officials say that that fire burned more than six acres of land, and volunteers were on the scene for about three hours.
