MARION CENTER – 4, BLAIRSVILLE – 2
Marion Center drove in two go-ahead runs in the fourth inning to beat Blairsville on Tuesday in Heritage Conference action. Parker Black started the rally after he doubled home a run on the first pitch he saw, while another came across to score on an error.
Gaven Palko earned the win on the mound after shutting out the Bobcats over three innings pitched. Dakota Bracken started the game for the Stingers, where he allowed just two runs and collected six strikeouts over four innings pitched.
Palko and Bracken, along with Skyler Olp, tallied two hits each to lead the Stingers on offense.
Andrew Baker got the start for Blairsville where he tallied eight strikeouts over six innings.
Marion Center moves to 3-1 on the season, they will face Penns Manor on April 20. Blairsville falls to 0-4 overall, 0-3 in the Heritage Conference, and they will face Northern Cambria on Wednesday.
SALTSBURG – 9, HOMER-CENTER 1
Brady Yard led the way for Saltsburg as the winning pitcher and collected two hits, including a home run. Riley Clevenger led Homer-Center with two hits and scored the team’s only run. Saltsburg improved to 3-1 and Homer-Center fell to 1-4 (1-3 in the Heritage Conference). Homer-Center plays host to Purchase Line today at 4:15 p.m.
HIGHLANDS – 5, INDIANA – 2
Four Indiana hitters tallied a hit in Tuesday’s loss against Highlands in WPIAL action. The Indians pulled within a run in the third inning, but the Highlanders added three in the middle innings to seal the win.
Lincoln Trusal went 1-for-4 with a run, while Branden Kanick tallied a hit in one at-bat while collecting a walk. Hunter Martin surrendered just one earned run while striking out two over 3.1 innings pitched.
Indiana holds a 5-1-1 record this season, and they return to the field on Saturday to take on Punxsutawney in non-conference play.
SOFTBALL
MARION CENTER – 7, BLAIRSVILLE – 0
Brin Gardner led the Blairsville offense, going 2 for 3 on the night, but the Bobcats came up empty against Marion Center pitching. Hannah Foust took the complete game loss for Blairsville. The Bobcats return to action today in a home game with Northern Cambria.
