18-0 Indiana will play for its first-ever Penguins Cup championship tonight against Chartiers Valley. Indiana was in position to play for the Penguins Cup last year against Thomas Jefferson when the season was stopped by the pandemic.
Coach Jordan Haines has a high scoring trio in Danny Williams, Zach Eisenhower, and Ben Nettleton. Williams lead the team this season with 36 points and Eisenhower scored 35, with Nettleton scoring 31. Eisenhower scored 18 goals, Williams 16, and Nettleton 15. Ethan Agnello scored 10.
Indiana beat North Catholic, 5-1 and Freeport, 4-0 to advance to the Final tonight. Tanner Agnello netted goals in both games and Ben Nettleton contributed two assists in each. O’Connor has made 35 saves on 36 shots against him this postseason.
Chartiers Valley defeated North Hills 3-2 and Kiski 5-2 to reach the Final.
The two teams have met once this season, with Indiana taking a 3-2 win on February 4th at the S&T Bank Arena. The Little Indians jumped to a 2-0 lead on first-period goals by Ethan Agnello and Korbin Wilson. Chartiers Valley tied it on back-to-back goals in the third period by Jackson Fodor before Indiana’s Danny Williams scored the game-winner on the power play with 7:09 left. Indiana goaltender Seamus O’Connor stopped 18 of 20 shots in the game.
