Several plea and sentencing hearings are scheduled for today in Indiana County Court and while most of them are DUI or drug-related, there are some notable cases on the schedule.
29-year-old Jordan Shupe will enter pleas and be sentenced today in connection with a shooting at 10:30 PM on July 28th. Pennsylvania State Police said that Shupe followed the vehicle of Paul Swarden and fired a handgun at the intersection of Birds Road and Blue Jay Lane in Young Township. In the vehicle with Swarden was 35-year-old Brienna Lapay and a three-year-old boy.
Police said that when they were at Shupe’s home, he drove by, saw police and drove away quickly. Police then started to give chase, pulled him over and seized his pistol. The pistol had one bullet fired.
Shupe was under the influence of alcohol at the time and was taken to IRMC for a blood test before being put in Indiana County Jail. Shupe is charged with two DUI counts along with reckless endangerment, endangering the welfare of a child, disorderly conduct and careless driving.
Also, Okoye Robert Patterson is scheduled for a sentencing hearing today. He pleaded guilty in January of this year to a charge of corruption of minors for an incident in February of 2020.
