Indiana Regional Medical Center has announced an affiliation agreement with a hospital in northern Somerset County.
The agreement is with Chan-Soon-Shiong Medical Center at Windber. The agreement will allow the two healthcare providers to coordinate patient care between the two. The main goals of the agreement include lowering the cost of healthcare, making services more available, improving the health status of each community, coordinate healthcare service delivery, and serving the overall needs of each community.
IRMC President Steve Wolfe called community hospitals “the backbones of many communities,” and said that the missions of both IRMC and CSSMCW match well to help fulfill their mutual goals. He also called the agreement key in helping IRMC remain an independent hospital. Tom Kurtz, president and CEO of CSSMCW agreed, saying that they also agree with the benefits of remaining independent and how the relationship will improve the overall healthcare experience at both locations.
