WHAT WE ORIGINALLY REPORTED:
Pennsylvania State Police have confirmed that one person died in a vehicle crash on Route 286 in Cherryhill Township on Thursday.
Police have not identified the victim by name, but they say that a 58-year-old man was driving a Chevy Silverado east on Route 286 and was over the fog line on the southern berm of the road when it came upon a disabled box truck and swerved to avoid rear ending it. As the truck went across the center line and into the west bound lane, it collided nearly head on with a westbound Ram pickup driven by 37-year-old Kenneth Yovich of Beaver. After the initial impact, a Dodge Avenger sedan driven by an un-named 16-year-old girl from Dixonville that was behind Yovich’s truck also hit the Silverado as it spun on the roadway.
The driver of the Silverado was pronounced dead at the scene. Yovich was taken by Citizens Ambulance to IRMC for treatment of suspected minor injuries. A passenger in Yovich’s truck, and the two teens in the sedan were not hurt.
Indiana County 911 reported that Clymer and Commodore Fire Departments assisted on the scene.
