Three area fire companies have received grant funding that will be put towards the purchasing of rescue equipment.
The Commodore Fire Department said in a Facebook post that they say “has been several months or years in the making,” that along Homer City and Clymer fire crews, they were able to purchase self-contained breathing apparatuses (SCBA) as well as other equipment through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program.
With these funds, which Commodore fire crews say came out to more than $100,000, they were able to purchase 13 news SCBAs with 13 spare air tanks, and enough masks for firefighters to have their own while having spares on trucks. A new RIT pack with 60-minutes of air supply, a new Thermal Imaging Camera and a mask adaptor will go towards the department as well.
