On Tuesday, Indiana Borough Council discussed the next steps in their process for the money the borough received through the American Rescue Plan.
Indiana will receive $1,378,179.52 from the plan signed by President Joe Biden in March, and the first of three payments has been made to the borough. Council President Peter Broad mentioned that council has until 2024 to decide how that money is to be spent, but he says that is not a lot of time.
While it was suggested that council hold public hearings to gauge how the public wants to see the money spent, Councilman Ben Ford suggested that other data gathering methods be used.
To that end, borough management was directed by council to create an online survey to be brought back before the council for their approval.
In other business, council awarded the 2021 paving contract to Eastern American for $152,753.02 for the borough paving project. The project area will be 13th St. from Water St. to Oakland Ave.
