A second accident in two days on Pizza Barn Road in Derry Township required a medical helicopter for an injured driver yesterday.
Indiana County 911 dispatched Blairsville and Black Lick firefighters at 11:21 AM to the intersection of Route 217 and Pizza Barn Road. Firefighters had to free the driver from the wreckage before the helicopter arrived. The driver has not been publicly identified.
On Monday morning, both drivers were airlifted to hospitals after a collision on Pizza Barn Road near that same intersection. That crash, at about 6 AM, happened when 31-year-old Adam Finch of Oneonta New York, crossed the centerline into the path of a vehicle operated by 64-year-old Sandra Smith of Latrobe.
State police said Finch was taken to UPMC Presbyterian with serious injuries. Smith’s injuries were described as minor. She was flown to Forbes Regional in Monroeville.
State police also report an ATV accident on Saturday night at North Bank Street at the intersection of West First Avenue in Derry Township, just east of Bradenville. Police say 25-year-old Dante Williamson of Indiana missed his turn and traveled into a driveway, where he ran into a parked pickup truck. It was unknown if Williamson was injured.
