The Indiana Area School District reported a case of Covid-19 in an Eisnhower student attending class at the Junior High School yesterday.
In an announcement posted to the district website, the school nurse and administration worked with the State Department of Health and concluded that not only that student but six other students were required to go into quarantine. Several other students have been quarantined because their parents tested positive for Covid-19.
Even though the positive case discovered will be attributed to the district, it is the only case in the district, and that means classes will continue as scheduled under their current health and safety plan.
Superintendent Michael Vuckovich said that a temporary masking requirement or school closure could occur in the near future at any of the schools if rates continue to rise. As of right now, with only one case reported, the district is well within the ranges identified in the health and safety plan.
Indiana is the only district in the county reporting any Covid-19 cases this morning.
