Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro is warning people to be wary of home improvement or repair scams in the wake of Hurricane Ida.
Shapiro said that homeowners need to be aware of these scams after large storms like Ida make their way through. He added that legitimate contractors or government agencies will not send out unsolicited offers or ask for large amounts of money for projects, like scammers will do. Anyone who encounters a potential scam is encouraged to report it to the Attorney General’s office.
By the way, legitimate contractors are required to display their official registration number on all contracts, estimates, proposals and ads.
