Indiana Borough Police have identified a suspect in an attempted theft that happened in early January at an Indiana convenience store.
Police have identified 40-year-old Nicholas John Horner of Apollo as the main suspect at the incident at the Sheetz at the corner of 4th and Philadelphia Streets in Indiana on January 8th. He allegedly approached the registers and passed a note demanding cash from the employee, and made an accompanying verbal demand. He did not get any money, but he left the store after that. No customers were alerted to what was going on, and no one was hurt.
Police now say that Horner was driven to the Sheetz store before the attempted robbery, and afterwards, he was taken to a location in White Township. Charges of attempted robbery, terroristic threats and simple assault were filed in district court. After an arrest warrant was issued, Horner was found by police on Tuesday. Horner is now awaiting his preliminary arraignment hearing.
Indiana Borough Police were assisted by Sheetz corporate security, state police, the Indiana County District Attorney’s office and detectives from the Westmoreland County DA’s office.
