Those trying to file unemployment claims with the state over the phone or online are experiencing some outages.
The Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry said those outages are expected to run through the end of the day today. The department says that the outages are due to “routine system maintenance” that is limiting access to their phone and internet-based systems. This is just the latest difficulty that people have experienced with the unemployment system. Earlier this month, the department scrapped the customer service ticketing system that was in place. The department has also offered free credit monitoring to anyone who filed a claim since June of last year due to reported fraud.
The department reported that there will be extra staff on hand Tuesday through Thursday to help those who were affected by the downtime.
