The Indiana University of Pennsylvania has received top honors from the National Security Agency for their Cyber Defense classes.
The NSA has named the university as a Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense, which is a distinction that the university has held since 2002. Currently, IUP is one of only sixteen universities in Pennsylvania to receive the designation, which will run until 2027. The Center of Academic Excellence Criteria contains an evaluation of a university’s cyber defense curriculum, collaboration with the university information technology, educational outreach to the community, and interactions with other educational entities like other universities and elementary and high schools.
In a statement, IUP President Michael Driscoll called the recognition “well-deserved” and added that the university was proud of its excellence and continued growth in their cyber security programs, with several graduates holding leadership positions with federal agencies.
