An Indiana woman attending IUP has been named the recipient of a scholarship for outstanding female science student.
In a news release, IUP announced that this year’s recipient of the Dr. Patricia Hilliard Robinson Memorial Scholarship went to Kendra Bass of Indiana, a junior biology pre-med major. A graduate of Indiana High School in 2019, she is active at IUP as a member of the American Medical Student Association and the Catholic Student Association. She also works with biology faculty member Sarah Ernel on the conservation of Appalachian rabbits. She also works as an EMT in Indiana. She was also recently accepted into the College of Diabetes Network NextGen Fellowship Program.
After graduating from IUP, she hopes to continue her education with the goal of becoming a pediatric endocrinologist.
The scholarship is named for Hilliard Robinson, a 1980 Homer-Center grad and an 1985 biology graduate of IUP who died in May of 2001 from injuries suffered in a private plane crash near Wolfe air park in Manvel, Texas.
