The Pennsylvania Coal Alliance has released the names of the recipients of the PA Coal Reclamation Awards to highlight companies that exceed federal and state regulations to transform former mine sites into environmentally sound land, including a company with a lot of history in Indiana County.
Robindale Energy Services, a former Indiana County-based company that now operates out of Latrobe, was given the best overall award for the reclamation of over 15 acres of land in Bedford County. The project included removing a coal loadout/tipple area and grading and re-seeding to conform with the surrounding area. Robindale, now based in Latrobe, was honored along with Corsa Coal Company and Americkohl Mining for their individual projects.
The winners were chosen by the Pennsylvania Coal Alliance in cooperation with the state Department of Environmental Protection’s office of Active and Abandoned Mine Operations.
