A member of the U.S. Army from Indiana County who has been leading the 2nd Infantry Division/Republic Of Korea-U.S. Combined Division will return to the United States to a new leadership position.
Command Sgt. Major Shawn F. Carns of Indiana relinquished responsibility of the combined division at Camp Humphres in South Korea on April 15th after leading the post for 22 months. He says that he was very proud of his time as the leader of the combined division, and will miss the partnerships he has formed with the members from Korea.
He also hopes that those he met and worked with while in South Korea continue to keep in touch with him as he moves into the new post.
Carns enlisted in the Army in July of 1992 and has served in every key leadership position in infantry from Team Leader to Command Sgt. Major, serving at bases across America and in South Korea, Italy, Honduras and Africa. He also participated in three deployments during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Carns will move on to Joint Base Lewis-McCord in Washington State, where he will assume the position of Senior Enlisted Advisor of I-Corps
