Multiple water-related calls were reported by Indiana County 911 yesterday into this morning as rain continues to fall in our area.
Indiana County remains under an aerial flood warning until 8:00 AM. But over the last 24 hours. Fire crews were called out 26 times for water pumping details across Indiana County and for one similar incident in Armstrong County. Areas that were affected by flooding included the boroughs of Indiana, Ernest, Cherry Tree and Plumville, and in Rayne, White, Young, Burrell, Washington and Conemaugh Townships. The most recent call was at 3:33 this morning for a pumping detail on Main Street in Plumville Borough.
The storm was also responsible for an outage last night in Center Township that affected between 101 and 500 customers, according to preliminary numbers from Penelec. Homer City fire crews were called out to Lucerne Road in Center Township at 8:14 PM for a tree that had come down and blocked the roadway. A similar incident was reported at 5:42 PM on Route 954 in South Mahoning Township that was handled by Plumville Fire Department. There was also a road closure reported in Pine Township near Templeton as a landslide was reported, and a tree blocking the roadway.
Finally, representatives from Indiana, Blairsville, Tunnelton, Saltsburg and Creekside fire departments were called out to an area near Route 954 in Washington Township for a water rescue. Indiana County 911 reported that there were two vehicles were trapped and surrounded by water in the area.
