The average cost of a gallon of gas continues to go up in Pennsylvania and in Indiana County, while select stations remain stagnant.
Gasbuddy.com says that stations in Indiana, Homer City, Blairsville and Clymer report averages of $4.69 a gallon as of this morning, marking no change since Tuesday. However, Triple-A reports that the average cost of a gallon of regular gas across Indiana County is up 11 cents since Tuesday at $4.70 a gallon, tying it with Westmoreland County. Neighboring Jefferson County holds the lowest gas price in the region at $4.69 a gallon, while Cambria and Clearfield counties hold the highest average at $4.72 a gallon. Armstrong County is in the middle with a $4.71 a gallon average.
Pennsylvania’s average cost is now $4.77 a gallon, which is a 10 cent increase since Tuesday and a 57 cent jump since last month. At this time last year, gas prices were $3.16.
Triple-A says that the reason for the constant increase in gas prices is due to the decrease in total domestic gasoline stocks while demand for gas increased. Triple-A adds that gas prices are expected to keep rising since the supply/demand dynamic, combined with volatile crude oil prices will keep upward pressure on gas prices.
