After holding festivities in a socially distanced atmosphere last year and being cancelled outright in 2020, the Delaney Chevrolet Westsylvania Jazz and Blues Festival returns to IRMC Park in Downtown Indiana.
This marks the seventh edition of the music festival in Downtown Indiana. Dave Ferguson with the festival said that everyone was looking forward to returning to IRMC park after being away from it for two years.
Everything got underway last night with some evening performances at the Artist’s Hand Gallery and H.R. Steinhouse. Today’s events start at 11:00 with one of the headlining artists Hugo Cruz working with the Marion Center High School Jazz Band. At Noon, the 116 trio takes the stage, followed by the Alex Price Septet at 1:00. At 2:30, local band Jukehouse Bombers take the stage, followed by Paolo Schianchi at 4:00 PM. Hugo Cruz returns with his band Caminos at 5:45 as the Jazz Headliner presented by the August Wilson African American Cultural Center and the Pittsburgh International Jazz Festival. The blues headliner, Gentlemen Brawlers, will round out the IRMC park performances at 7:30.
This year will also feature the return of late-night performances to some Indiana establishments. The Deloran Jazz Trio will play at Josephine’s, Paolo Schianchi will perform for the third time in the day at The Artist’s Hand, and Laura Ferguson and Friends will host a jam session at Levity Brewing. All late night performances start at 9:00 PM.
Those attending at IRMC park are encouraged to bring a chair as seating will be limited. For more information on the festival, log on to www.westsylvaniajazzandblues.org
