SENIOR LEGION
Young Township took down Homer City Post 493, 4-0, in Senior Legion baseball action yesterday. Niko Buffone threw four shutout innings to get the win, striking out six and walking one. Hayden Brink and A. Coleman finished up on the mound. Caleb Palmer, Dolan, Nick Love, and Nick Pacconi each had a hit for the Bearcats. G. Ross had three hits and Brink had two for YT, which had eight hits overall.
YOUTH LEGION
In Youth Legion baseball, Marion Center broke a 1-1 tie in the fifth inning and nipped Brookville Fireman’s Club, 2-1. Marion Center scored the go-ahead run in the bottom of the 5th when AJ Chambers doubled, Noah McCoy moved him to third with a sacrifice bunt, and Cam Rising singled on a 3-2 count to drive in Chambers. Connor James had two hits, including a double, and he threw out a runner trying to steal in the 7th inning. Jayden Detwiler added a double and Collin Anderson drove in Marion Center’s other run in the 2nd.
Detwiler threw 6-and-a-third innings to earn the win, giving up just two hits and striking out four. Hunter Reichenbach got the save, striking out the final batter to end the game.
In a Wednesday night game, Brookville beat Walbeck Insurance, 11-3, in a rain-delayed game. Walbeck gave up six runs in the first inning and could not pull even after that. Nate Birchall led Walbeck with a 2-for-2 night.
