Former Homer-Center standout Corey Cavalier concluded his career in the Johnstown Collegiate Baseball League last Saturday, collecting the 100th hit of his JCBL career and becoming the all-time franchise hit leader for the Opthalmic Associates Baseball team, known as “The O.”
It’s a testament to Cavalier’ perseverance, as he played through and overcame a series of injuries. He had shoulder labrum surgery in 2019 and a form of Tommy John surgery for a torn UCL in his elbow in 2020. Along the way, he won JCBL First Baseman of the Year in ’19, Third Baseman of the Year in ’20, and Second Baseman of the Year in 2021.
The O was eliminated from the playoffs on Saturday. Cavalier ended his career with 101 hits, and a fielding percentage of .961 with only 15 errors in 394 chances. Cavalier was a captain of the baseball, basketball, and golf teams in his career at Homer-Center.
