After seeing gas prices at over $5 a gallon this year, prices have been steadily going down over the second half of the summer. But as we get closer to labor day, that could change.
As of this morning, the average cost of a gallon of gas across the United States is $3.90 a gallon, which is another drop of a penny over the last day, six cents over the last week, and 56-cents down from last month, according to Triple-A. Pennsylvania’s Average is $4.23, also a drop of a penny from yesterday, down seven cents from last week and 41 cents from last month.
Jane Tidwell from Triple-A Mid-Atlantic says that the steady decline has been following the price of crude oil over the last few months, and that reduced demand has also played a role, but after Labor Day, the latter should return to normal.
She did add that prices should continue to fall with the changeover to winter blends of fuel.
As of this morning, Indiana County’s gas price average is $4.24. The lowest average is $4.20 in Jefferson County, followed by $4.21 in Westmoreland County. Clearfield County’s average is $4.24 a gallon, with Cambria at $4.26 and Armstrong the highest in the region at $4.27.
Many gas stations within Indiana County are at $4.25 for regular unleaded gas, according to Gasbuddy.com
