IUP has announced its finalized enrollment figures for the fall 2022 semester, and there are some reported increases for new student enrollment.
According to a news release, IUP reported that there were 1,724 new first-time students for this semester, an increase of 68 students over the fall of 2021, which is just over 4 percent. This is going against the national trends for student enrollment. The National Clearinghouse Student Center reported that college and university enrollment for Fall 2021 was down 6.6 percent from Fall of 2019.
IUP also announced an increase in the number of students in the career prep programs, which has gone up by 14 percent over last year. A total of 322 students enrolled in the program, up from 299 in Fall of 2021. This marks the most number of students taking advantage of the program. The career prep program with the most students is the Culinary Arts program in Punxsutawney at 148, with the paramedic program coming in second, followed by the emergency medical program, criminal justice training and school resource officer training.
IUP also said that they have welcomed 403 students from 64 countries, up from 52 countries in fall of last year, and the percentage of international students enrolled in graduate programs is at its highest point since Fall of 2019.
