Members of the community gathered on the Thursday for the Indiana County Courthouse Open House.
Attendees were able to scour all floors of the courthouse and get to know the different businesses and organizations across the county, as well as take group tours of the courthouse, hosted by Randy Degenkolb.
Refreshments were also provided courtesy of Senator Joe Pittman, who donated different cheeses, and Eat-N-Park, which donated Smiley cookies for the event.
County Commissioner Robin Gorman was pleased with the turnout for the Open House.
Gorman also pointed out the number of young adults in attendance. She said it helps push the motive of educating all residents of what Indiana County is about.
The Indiana County Community Action Program, or ICCAP, accepted monetary and physical donations in the lobby of the courthouse. Gorman said this stemmed from a phone call by a concerned citizen.
Aimee Kemp, Director of the ICCAP Food Bank, said there has been a long-lasting relationship between the county commissioners and ICCAP.
The Indiana County Emergency Management Agency also had a booth at the Open House. Director Tom Stutzman said it was to teach residents that there’s more to dialing 9-1-1.
Debbie Streams with the Voter’s Registration office said this was a great opportunity to get people registered for the upcoming election.
Door prizes were also awarded towards the end of the Open House.
