State Senator Joe Pittman and State Reps Jim Struzzi, Donna Oberlander and Abby Major have announced that $3.5 million in Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program grants were awarded to four projects in both Armstrong and Indiana Counties.
$2 million will go towards expansion and improvements projects at the YMCA of Indiana County. Senator Pittman said that the facility is in need of renovations and improvements for the White Township facility. Three projects in Armstrong County will receive $500,000 each:
- Orphans of the Storm for construction of a new animal shelter in Rayburn Township
- Holcim-Mid Atlantic Region to construct a lightweight aggregate processing operation at the company’s existing facility in South Bend Township to include the installation of a natural gas-fired kiln and air pollution equipment
- The borough of Kittanning to extend their beautification and streetscape improvements on Market Street
RACP grants are distributed by the office of budget for the acquisition and construction of regional economic, cultural, civic, recreation and historical improvement projects.
