The rash of brush fires continues in Indiana County, with four reported in the county over the last 24 hours.
After being called out the evening before for a brush fire, Glen Campbell Fire Department was called back out to Number 11 road in Montgomery Township for another brush fire.
Then at 11:53 AM, Marion Center, Plumville, Clymer, Creekside, Perry Township, Commodore, and Dayton fire departments were dispatched for a large brush fire along Glenn Drive in Rayne Township. Initial reports said that four acres of ground were affected, burning not just brush and grass, but some trees as well. Indiana Fire Association and Cherryhill Fire Department were called in for standby detail in connection with that fire.
At 4:09 PM, Commodore fire department was dispatched for a fire on Douglas Street. And Marion Center fire crews were called out for a second brush fire, this one on Potts road in East Mahoning Township at 5:57 PM.
This brings the total number of brush fires up to 61 for the year.
Creekside and Plumville fire departments were also dispatched for a brush fire yesterday in Plumcreek Township, Armstrong County. That call went out at 5:52 PM.
