On Thursday night, the Homer-Center School Board approved entering a lawsuit against the company that manufactures a popular e-cigarette.
The motion authorizes the district to enter into an attorney-client fee contract with the Frantz Law Group of San Diego and Dillon, McCandless, King, Coulter and Graham of Butler to join a lawsuit filed by other schools against Juul Labs, LLC and other companies. Acting superintendent and business manager Gregg Kalemba said that the district is looking to recoup some money that was used for preventative measures in the district.
In other business, it was announced that the new superintendent, Ralph J. Cecere, Jr., will officially join the district after Thanksgiving break is over. Cecere said that he is looking forward to taking on the job.
The board also accepted with regret the resignation of Andrea Nicolo, a cafeteria worker in the district for the past 27 years.
