The River Valley School District was recently recognized by the White House as part of the Biden Administration’s “Cybersecurity Apprenticeship Sprint” program.
The program was an effort from the U.S. Department of Labor in Coordination with the White House office of the national cyber director and other federal agencies. In an announcement, the Biden Administration said that one of the new program highlights was the creation of a new National Registered Apprenticeship Program by CompTIA called “CompTIA Apprenticeships for Tech”. The White House also recognized the River Valley School District as the first public school district in the United States to join it. The program’s goal is to develop talent and provide training for high-demand occupations in the tech industry.
The district is a part of the CompTIA Academic Partner Program, and the program will be run out of the district’s STEAM academy in Saltsburg. The program will provide instruction, certification and apprenticeship opportunities through its Cybersecurity program.
