Finding himself in the starter’s role after an injury sidelined Najee Harris for the rest of the game, Benny Snell Jr. scored the go-ahead touchdown last night to push the Steelers over the Indianapolis Colts, 24-17.
The Steelers trailed 17-16 with 9:55 left in the game, but Snell scored from two yards out on 3rd and Goal to reclaim the lead. A two-point conversion by George Pickens gave Pittsburgh a seven-point advantage after that. The defense held down the fort through the rest of the fourth, forcing the Colts to punt and turn the ball over on downs in the following two drives.
Quarterback Kenny Pickett went 20-for-28 passing with 174 yards. He also posted 32 yards on six carries. Coach Mike Tomlin said he’s ahead of the curve.
Audio PlayerPickett said the team needs to be better in the second half.
Audio PlayerPickett adds that he liked what he saw on that final drive.
Audio PlayerSnell finished the game with 12 carries, 62 yards and a touchdown, while Pickens finished with three receptions and 52 yards. James Pierre added an interception on defense.
Harris suffered an abdominal injury in the first half and did not return to the game. His status for next week is questionable.
The road trip continues for the Steelers this Sunday as they take on the Atlanta Falcons at one o’clock.
