The Indiana University of Pennsylvania has received its sixth round of funding through the Pennsylvania “It’s On Us” program.
The program was started by Governor Tom Wolf as a way to help combat sexual assault and violence on college campuses across the state. Over the years of the program, IUP has received funds for six of the seven years of the program. This year, the University received $40,000, which has been earmarked for two initiatives:
- To expand IUP’s partnership with Alice Paul House to help tailor its programming to help IUP students, helping residence life staff and provide training at several different venues.
- To expand the IUP Togetherall program, a national online program that provides students with free 24/7 access to online peer-to-peer mental health support. This program, which started in 2022, is an online community clinically monitored by mental health professionals and offers students a safe and anonymous place to express their thoughts, feelings, concerns and triumphs.
The grant money in the past has helped to improve the University’s response to sexual violence incidents, including bystander training, policy revisions, and improving the process on reporting sexual assault.
