The Steelers’ third-day draft choices included outside linebacker Nick Herbig, the brother of Steelers offensive lineman Nate Herbig, in the 4th round.
Nick Herbig also continues the Steelers’ strong connection to the University of Wisconsin’s football program. The 6-2, 240 pound outside rusher joins Wisconsin alums TJ Watt, Isaiahh Loudermilk, and Scott Nelson on the Steelers’ roster, along with Keeanu Benton, who was taken by the Steelers in the second round of this year’s draft.
Nate Herbig signed with the Steelers as a free agent this offseason.
With their final two picks in the draft, both seventh rounders, the Steelers took cornerback Cory Trice Jr. (Purdue) and offensive lineman Spencer Anderson (Maryland).
Pittsburgh also announced the signing of veteran free agent defensive back Chandon Sullivan, who played last season for the Minnesota Vikings.
Post-draft signings of undrafted rookies will not be announced until today or tomorrow, but multiple media outlets are reporting that the Steelers have signed five-year starting quarterback Tanner Morgan of Minnesota, fullback Monte “The Mullet” Pottebaum of Iowa, and running back/returner Jordan Byrd of San Diego State.
