A reminder that starting on Thursday, electricity prices will undergo their quarterly adjustment in Pennsylvania, and for Penelec customers, that means an increase of 1.5 percent, from 9.561 center to 10.312 cents per kilowatt hour.
For those who use West Penn Power, the rate will go up 20.7 percent, to 9.929 cents per kilowatt hour. Rates will also increase for Citizens’ Electric, Duquesne Light, Met-Ed, PECO, and Penn Power. They will decrease for customers of PPL, UGI, and Wellsboro Electric.
The Price to Compare averages 40 to 60 percent of your utility bill. The rates cited are for residential customers. For small business customers, the four FirstEnergy companies, including Penelec, will have rate increases between 18 and 45 percent.
