Over the next few days, temperatures are expected to get into uncomfortable levels.
Today marks the start of a four-day period where temperatures will be 85 degrees or warmer, and with humidity factored in, temperatures will feel like they are 90 degrees or above. The hottest day is expected to be Friday, where local temperatures will get to 92 degrees, and the heat index will make it feel like it is 103 degrees.
Dr. Nathan Kriger, the medical director of the Bork Emergency Center at IRMC, says that heat related illnesses like heat exhaustion and heatstroke are common as the weather temperatures climb.
Audio PlayerKriger also says it is common for certain age groups to be strongly affected by the heat.
Audio PlayerKriger says the best thing to do to prevent the heat-related illnesses is to stay hydrated and stay out of the sun and heat during the hottest parts of the day, and getting to cooler environments.
Temperatures and humidity levels will go down by the weekend. A check of your Accuweather Forecast is coming up in a few minutes.
