Steelers offensive coordinator Matt Canada met with reporters Thursday afternoon to address the team’s performance and address the backlash he received during Monday night’s matchup with the Cleveland Browns.
The Steelers mustered just 255 yards of total offense and tallied only nine first downs, six of which came through the air.
Canada admitted the offense played poorly against Cleveland and said the negative reception is part of the job.
Canada reiterated he trusts his players and he expects them to be better this week against Las Vegas.
In other Steelers news, safety Minkah Fitzpatrick issued a statement on his hit against Browns running back Nick Chubb.
Fitzpatrick said football is quote, “a game (where) you make decisions in milliseconds. Can’t really control what happens after you choose to make your decision… Somebody got on [Chubb’s] back when I was going low, and what happened happened. There’s nothing I would do differently. Again, like I said earlier, it’s very unfortunate. Nick Chubb’s a great player. He makes the game a lot better when he’s playing. Just hope for a speedy recovery.”
He adds he is not quote, “a dirty player.”
The Steelers face the Raiders Sunday night at 8:20 p.m.
