Shots rang out around 12:30 AM, just as a State Police Mounted Patrol was arriving at the Chevy Chase Community Center in White Township. The unit was in Indiana for crowd control at IUP Homecoming, but was diverted to Chevy Chase because of a large crowd that was having a private party at the community center. All of the shooting was inside the building. Bivens said that as the panicked crowd ran out of the center, police ran in, some rendering aid to wounded victims and others attempting to identify and stop the shooters.
Almost all of the party-goeers, numbering about 150 people, had paid a fee to get in via an app, which police are using to help them identify who was there. Members of the State Police Troop A Major Case Team recovered multiple guns at the scene, along with cell phones, clothing and other evidence. No one has been taken into custody.
Six victims remain in the hospital and two have been released. One victim is listed in critical condition. No one has been publicly identified.
Bivens said police are seeking any video footage from nearby doorbell cameras and other sources, including video from inside the building.
Additionally, Pennsylvania Crimestoppers has offered a $10,000 reward for information leading to the identification and arrest of the suspects involved in the shooting, and the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms has also offered a $5,000 reward. Anyone with information is urged to call state police at 724-357-1960.
