After the offense failed to come back against Cleveland on Sunday, the Steelers made a personnel change Tuesday morning, firing offensive coordinator Matt Canada.
Canada was in his third season with Pittsburgh but produced abysmal results. After Sunday’s loss, the Steelers’ offense ranked 28th overall in the NFL, 31st out of 32 teams in passing, 15th in rushing, and 28th in scoring.
In a statement, coach Mike Tomlin thanked Canada for his efforts and wished him luck in his future endeavors. No word if he will comment on the change during his weekly news conference at noon.
NFL insider Tom Pelissero said that, while it’s not official yet, the Steelers are expected to promote running backs coach Eddie Faulkner to offensive coordinator while quarterbacks coach Mike Sullivan handles play-calling duties.
