Today is “Black Friday”, which is the usual traditional start to the Holiday Shopping Season, and on the local level, business was brisk at the major retailers in Indiana Mall.
Mall manager Sherry Renosky said that when the three anchor stores opened at their early hours this morning, they saw brisk business, including the latest anchor store, Dunham’s Sports.
Audio PlayerSince then, things had calmed down, but Renosky expected activity at the mall to spike throughout the day.
Sarah Coughanour of Clarksburg said that she had been at the mall since 5:00, and said that it was fun for her.
Audio PlayerKatie Sopata of Blue Knob said she preferred to shop at Indiana Mall because it was quieter than the big stores, and the crafters that set up temporary shop in the mall.
Audio PlayerTomorrow, the shopping world is expected to focus on the smaller stores for Small Business Saturday, and there are activities planned for Downtown Indiana. The business district will be offering their downtown dollars program through the day.
