Tristan Jarry made history last night in Tampa Bay as the Penguins struck the Lightning. Here’s Paul Steigerwald.
It’s not the first pro goal in Tristan Jarry’s career. He scored in November of 2018 while playing for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. The last NHL goaltender to score a goal before Jarry‘s tally last night was the Bruins’ Linus Ullmark, in February of this year. Coach Mike Sullivan was thrilled for Tristan Jarry for joining a very elite group of NHL goaltenders in the scoring column.
Jarry said the goal was exciting, but the “W” was more important.
Sullivan applauded the work ethic and spirit of Jeff Carter, who has endured a season in which he has had to be a healthy scratch. The coach says Carter has been a pro all along and he trusts Carter’s line in the key moments of games.
Crosby’s goal was his fourteenth of the season. O’Connor got his second and Carter’s goal was his first of the season.
Up next for the Penguins is a home-and-away series against the Flyers. They’ll host the Flyers tomorrow night and then travel to Philadelphia on Monday.
