A U.S. Congressman that represents the northern portions of Indiana County has announced that he has been diagnosed with prostate cancer.
In a statement, Glenn “GT” Thompson said that the diagnosis came during a routine physical and was confirmed with subsequent tests. Thompson said that while the diagnosis was a surprise, he feels fine and will continue his work in Congress. He said, “Anyone who’s worked with me knows I am a person of faith as well as an eternal optimist, both of which will guide me as I undergo treatment.” He added, “My faith in God is strong and I will tackle this head on. I appreciate both prayers and privacy at this time.”
Thompson was first elected to represent the 5th congressional district in 2008 and in 2018, he was redistricted to the 15th district in the 2018 election by an order of the PA Supreme Court. Since 2023, he has chaired the House Agriculture Committee.
