IUP has received $17.6 million in funding from the State System of Higher Education for two projects: the Academy of Culinary Arts long-range facilities plan and the Health Sciences cluster and proposed college of osteopathic medicine.
The money comes from the 2023-24 State System capital allocations budget for the university. $17.1 million of that money will go towards the academy of culinary arts building replacement project in Punxsutawney. Specifically, the university plans to construct a new 45,000 square-foot educational and multi-purpose commercial facility adacent to the Fairman Centre on West Mahoning Street.
The remaining funds will go towards a facilities feasibility study for academic facilities for IUP’s health sciences cluster and proposed osteopathic medicine college. The study will result in a program plan for both entities.
