An independent pharmacy chain is closing nine of its stores across Pennsylvania, including locations in Indiana and Cambria Counties.
In a Facebook post, Mainline Pharmacy will close the stores due to continued economic pressures from Pharmacy Benefit Managers or PBM’s.
While the company said they filled more prescriptions than any other of the 40-plus years they have been in business, the PBM’s have paid less than what it cost to purchase the medications from their wholesaler, and that the 2024 contracts with PBM’s are the worst that they have seen.
The company has filled over 17,500 prescriptions for a loss this year so far, which has resulted in a loss of over $350,000.
Those being served by Mainline Pharmacies will have their records transferred to the nearest Rite-Aid Pharmacy and will be accessible the day after the store’s closure.
Blairsville’s Mainline Pharmacy will close on March 11th, while the Nanty-Glo location will close two days later, on the 13th. Other locations will close throughout the month.
