Indiana University of Pennsylvania has announced that a student from Homer City has become the fourth student chosen for the Statler Foundation’s Scholarship of Excellence.
Emma McAnulty, a senior at IUP studying Hotel, Restaurant, Tourism and Event Management, was awarded the competitive scholarship. Prospective recipients are judged on academic excellence, character, and commitment to the industry. McAnulty is a dean’s list student and provost scholar and received the IUP Hospitality Management Junior Service Award during her time at school.
The scholarship is set up by the Statler foundation, which was created by the estate of hotelier Ellsworth M. Statler after his death in 1928, and its purpose is to support research work and train employees for the benefit of the hotel industry. Recently, a hotel front desk simulation lab at IUP was named in the Statler Foundation’s honor.
