State police say there is an ongoing investigation into a blackmail and extortion case where the victim is a car dealership in Blairsville.
Police say that they were notified of the incident on May 8th at 2:14 PM by officials at Tri-Star Motors. When they arrived, it was discovered that the suspect, identified as a 40-year-old man from Brownsville in Fayette County who was a former employee of Tri-Star, had scheduled a meeting with officials. He threatened to extort the dealership of 13 months’ worth of paychecks valued at $58,388 or he would distribute a flash drive that he took from the Tri-Star Connellsville location containing approximately 1,000 repair orders that contained sensitive customer information.
No other information on the case has been released.
