A new exhibit at the Jimmy Stewart Museum celebrates the films and music of the golden age of Hollywood through paintings.
The exhibition, “Movies and Music of Hollywood”, features the artwork of George Rothacker. Along with the Jimmy Stewart classics “It’s A Wonderful Life” and “Vertigo”, the paintings also pay tribute to the music and visuals from other iconic Hollywood films including Casablanca, Out of Africa, and The Adventures of Robin Hood.
Janie McKirgan, the president and executive director of the museum, said that the new exhibit continues a tradition of introducing a new exhibit as part of the museum’s celebration of Jimmy Stewart’s birthday.
The artwork also celebrates the music and the work of the composer, which Rothacker said is not always well known, saying that while the public at large can recognize the work of John Williams, they might not know the work of Bernard Hermann or others.
The exhibit will run through late August.
