Indiana Senior High School was one of 36 high schools in Pennsylvania to receive honors for their work in getting students to register to vote.
The honors come from the PA Departments of State and Education and are part of the Governor’s Civic Engagement Awards. Indiana Senior High received a Gold Level Award for registering to vote at least 85 percent of its eligible students. Eighteen schools across the state received that honor. Another eighteen schools earned silver honors for registering at least 65 of their eligible students. About 160 students across the state assisted over 3300 of their peers to win the gold or silver honors.
Secretary of the Commonwealth Al Schmidt said in a news release that the award celebrates the students who helped out in the effort and hopefully puts them on track to make voting a lifelong habit.
