Altoona used a four-run fifth inning to complete a 6-5 comeback win over Portland last night.
Trailing by three through the first two innings, the Curve got a run in the third after Sammy Siani was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Siani and Wyatt Hendrie then kicked off the fifth with a pair of run-scoring singles, then Connor Scott gave Altoona the lead with a two-run double a few hitters later. Portland tied the game with two runs in the sixth, but Dustin Peterson singled home the go-ahead run in the sixth. Jack Carey held the Sea Dogs in check with three no-hit innings of relief.
Peterson and Siani each collected two hits. Valentin Linarez earned the win out of the bullpen.
Braxton Ashcraft (1-2, 3.76 ERA) starts for Altoona tonight in the series’ fourth game.
