The Penguins have signed 2023 first round draft pick Brayden Yager to a three-year entry-level contract with a salary cap hit of $950,000. Yager played junior hockey with Moose Jaw in the Western Hockey League last year and scored 35 goals with 60 assists, adding 11 goals and 16 assists in the playoffs when the team won the league championship. He also played for Team Canada in the World Junior Championship and scored two goals with three assists in five games.
The Penguins could place Yager on one of their pro level teams or return him to Moose Jaw this season, in which case his contract would take effect next year.
