Steelers cutdown day yesterday did not include any major surprises. All of the draft picks made the team except safety Ryan Watts, who will spend the season on injured reserve after suffering a neck stinger Saturday against the Lions, an injury that was more serious than originally thought. Also placed on season-ending injured reserve was International Pathway Program import linebacker Julius Welschof, with a knee injury.
Outside linebacker Jeremiah Moon and offensive tackle Dylan Cook were both placed on four-game injured reserve.
Veteran linebacker Cole Holcomb was put on the reserve/physically unable to perform list. Cornerback Cam Sutton is on the reserve/suspended list as he serves an NFL suspension of eight games.
The Steelers kept four tight ends, as MyCole Pruitt played his way onto the team. They cut Jake Colleto, who was the only fullback in camp.
There will likely be a number of roster moves between now and the September 8th opener at Atlanta, including players signed to the practice squad.
NFL Network’s Mike Garofalo says the Steelers will be signing former Eagles running back Boston Scott to the 16-man practice squad. Former Steelers special teams ace Miles Boykin could be returning after he was cut by the Giants yesterday. As expected, the Broncos released wide receiver Tim Patrick, who was a Steelers trade possibility, but Patrick will reportedly join the Lions’ practice squad.

Tackle Broderick Jones says he anticipates landing on the right side of the offensive line. Jones rebounded from a rough start to his preseason and played better football Saturday in Detroit. He says the o-line is a solid unit that will improve week-by-week.
