Catherine Clare (Ishman) Ondo, 79, of Indiana, PA died on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at UPMC Shadyside Hospital.
The daughter of the late Walter D. and Ruth E. (Cochran) Ishman, she was born in Punxsutawney, PA on November 30, 1944
Shortly after graduating from Punxsutawney High School in 1962, Catherine gained employment at Robertshaw in Indiana, PA. After having two daughters she was employed in the food service department by Indiana Area School District for 29 years.
Catherine had a passion for service as a mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend— supporting, listening, and encouraging others. She was a devoted member of Christ Episcopal Church where she served on the Vestry, Altar Guild, & Daughters of the King.
Catherine is survived by two daughters, Jennifer (David) Roberts of Indiana, PA and Christine (Stephen) Brumbley of Laurel, DE; four grandsons, Nicholas (Melanie) Roberts, Alan Roberts, Isaac (Kameryn) Brumbley, Samuel Brumbley, and a beloved granddaughter, Lydia Brumbley. In addition, she leaves behind three brothers, David A. Ishman, Jacob A. Ishman, and Philip I. Ishman; a sister, Edna M. (David) Wray; a sister-in-law, Carole Ishman; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Samuel J. Ishman and Michael R. Ishman (Vietnam), and sister-in-law, Karen Ishman.
Visitation will be held at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, 500 Ben Franklin Road South, Indiana, PA on Monday, September 2, 2024 from 6-8 pm and on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, from 10-11 am with service immediately following at 11 am. Officiating will be Father William Geiger.
Additionally, a Memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2024 beginning at 10 am at Christ Church, 902 Philadelphia Street, Indiana, PA, followed by inurnment in the Christ Church Memorial Garden. A light luncheon will follow in the church social hall.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Catherine’s memory be made to the Mission Fund c/o Christ Church.
